Bought a CPO E84 i35 M Sport... and I love it!
Hey All,
Glad to join the community. I picked up my new X1 last weekend. The car reminds me of my old 328is with some of the GTI features only a hatchback enthusiast could love. Alpine White with black interior. Any recommendations for spacers that fit an 35i? Any reason why most spacers for an X1 only specify fitting a 28i?

Congrats, I see it's a CPO.
Did you get it from Schomp or Denver (aka Murray)? Of course I'm just assuming you didn't head to Boulder, Loveland or the Springs |

Yes indeed. Schomp took fine care of us.

Nice! I got a CPO car a few months ago and love it so far. Definitely a nice little daily that still is a lot of fun to drive.

Schomp was my first choice to buy from, but it didn't work out. While I respect them them for not negotiating on their "One Price" deals, they were just asking to much for the car I was interested in at the time.
I ended up going to Gebhardt in Boulder were I got a year newer car, with fewer miles and more features all for less than what Schomp wanted. In the end they sold the car about a month later for what I had offered them. That said, I still really like them and have had pretty much all my service work done by them. We also bought my daughter's Fit at their Honda dealership right next door |

Congrats! That Infiniti in the background seems to frown with disapproval.
IIRC the wheel hub config is the same on e84 X1 so spacers from x28i should work. Personally I'm not a fan of adding unsprung weight with these spacers. Perhaps look into more aggressive offset wheels if you want a more flushed look. |

You know, my experience actually left me feeling like I bought a car from a volume dealer, not a luxury carmaker. There were a few things wrong with it that they fixed for me for free, but should have been caught in their CPO inspection. Nothing major but lacks the feel of attention to detail. I may take it up to BMW of Denver for Service to see how the experience may differ.

Spacers will be all the same among just about all recent BMWs (and even the vast majority of past ones as well).
BMS are affordable and popular... http://www.burgertuning.com/BMW_wheel_spacers.html *Note, the spacer is the same between the E and F series cars, but the lugs are a different thread pitch. They go on sale pretty regularly.

They're aluminum and weigh very, very little. You're talking about 10-12 oz per wheel and it's located very centrally. That's less weight than it probably takes to balance the wheel. You run 17" wheels I take it? Because that's an order of magnitude worse from a weight perspective vs. 18s or 19s vs. a 10mm aluminum/drilled spacer.

Congrats! Mine wasn't CPO, but the best deal and lowest miles I could find. I'll be getting an aftermarket extended warranty.
On a side note - my M Sport has the roof rack, too. It appears they lock, but I don't have a key. Does anyone know if you need to the key to remove them? I'm never going to carry anything on my roof.... |

I read somewhere that you can jury rig the locking mechanism to unlock it. It's not a sophisticated mechanism. I've never tried either. |

You, however, answered the crux of my dilemma - yes, I need to get those end caps open in order to uninstall the rack pieces. Thanks! |

I've seen several folks mention spacers can be tough on wheel bearings. Any insight there?

I am new to the site and reading up on the X1 35. Just started my search for a 2014/2015.

To me, what the car feels like is a sport hatchback or wagon. The i35 has some impressive power and is thrilling to drive... like a car. I replaced my 2015 Infiniti Q50S with a 35i m-sport and not only is the X1 roomier (ski car), it's faster from 0-60 and much more responsive. It took a lot of knocks because of that SUV moniker, but it's one heck of a car.

IIRC BMW marketed it as an SAV.
I just think of it as a jacked up wagon.... like the Subaru Outback, but with sportier intentions. |
