without a doubt. I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't already installed. it is awesome though. my butt dyno is happy. I raced my dad's 07 Foose Mustang and it's not rated real high in HP/TQ at around 350(crank), my X1 absolutely blows it away.
the launch on these things (when tuned) at 2200rpm makes you want to puke, it just rolls the stomach. I love it. my wife doesn't like when I do that haha |

The JB4 is more aggressive and give you more user friendly stuff. But no warranty, and for most people that mod a lot, that's better. I'm 95% happy with my X1. Second and third gear are plenty powerful. The top of third gear at WOT actually makes you a bit uneasy that you're going that fast. A little bit like a roller coaster. I just want that in First, and I think A tune will give me that. I'm just scared of the JB4. I don't want to mod my x1 a lot. Maybe I'll find used msport suspension and through those on, and maybe some visual things, but otherwise, I'm good. Too bad the Jb4 doesn't have a more conservative tune option, for those of us who maybe only want 40 more hp, and 50-60ft/lbs more, instead of 60 and `100ft\lbs. I'm a bit scared to push the car to the ragged hairy edge. Just want a little more. |

The Dinan Sport thread is here: http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1274654 I swore there was a post for the JB+ in the X1 forum but it seems to have disappeared, so here is the one in the 2 forum: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1290593 |

You have turbo lag? I feel mine is more of transmission lag. Maybe except from idle to WOT. But by the time the 6 speed downshifts, the turbo feels like it spools. It doesn't appear that the sport only is available for the x1 35i. At least I can't find it on the website. Bummer. This bring me back to jb4. And I just fear pushing the car thaaat far. |

i dunno. It seems like if I step on it off idle it lurches, thinks about it, then launches.
Just looking to smooth out the responsiveness. One of these $300 options ought to be able to handle that. I don't really want to go full Dinan tune or push the car too hard. |

If I'm not mistaken the JB4 has many different maps for different aggressiveness levels. I'm sure that you can select a map that doesn't push things too far.

No Traction control light comes on. I'm not talking about full-on romping it. Just trying to hustle out of a parking lot into traffic quickly and smoothly. The best I can describe it is: it lurches out into traffic, pauses long enough to make people want to brake, then tears off and outruns everyone. I am really interested in the Dinan Sport+ but it isn't listed as compatible with this configuration X1. I don't know much about the JB4 set up? Heading to google now... |

Have you tried forcing it into manual mode? When I do things like that I usually throw it into first and then there are no hesitations. Usually I find it will hesitate if I change my throttle input or suddenly slam it.

You're not in eco mode, right?
I will admit, if i'm going slow at like 10mph, barely moving/coasting and I nail it, there is a bit of a delay while it downshifts and spools up. A lot of automatics struggle right in the window, but otherwise I don't experience what you are describing. |

that can sometimes be unnerving. I've trained my right foot to push the throttle the first 1/2", and then accelerate normally. It's a touch thing, and I don't always nail it, which causes a jerky start. |

Drive by wire vs drive by cable.... There's no substitute for direct input vs computer analysis of what it thinks you want to do. Not to mention the latency induced by drive by wire. I believe I recall that expensive sports cars don't have this problem, which is irritating as hell.

Our X3 has it too, not as bad but it is there. Really butchers the experience, i prefer driving my saab because when i hit the gas the car goes instead of sitting there and considering it's fuckig station in life.
