Wanting a Navigation System / iDrive for X1
Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and just registered today.
I own an X1 xDrive 2.0d MSport (2012) which I do like but it does have its niggles. I have owned the car for nearly a year now. The car doesn't have a sat nav fitted and has the glove box type system fitted to the dashboard. I was wondering has anyone had a navigation system fitted afterwards and if so is it best to go straight to the bmw dealership or are there other places that would fit one for me? I am not sure if the dial system that sits next to the handbrake is called the iDrive system, if so will I need that too? thank you |

IMO, not worth the $ or the effort. The BMW Nav is so-so at best and requires additional $ for updates that are usually obsolete by the time they are released. Never again will I pony up for factory installed Nav requiring $$$ for what should be free updating...complete ripoff

I like the send to car, iphone apps integration, and real time traffic integration. In the F30 and F80, I like the extended display gauge cluster as well Agreed, definitely "nice to have" instead of "must have" but I don't quite agree its a rip off |

IMO the add on cost for navigation at time of purchase is not a rip off, buy it really should include map upgrades (at least for the time of maintenance program). What is a little bit of a rip off is not being able to get iDrive without navigation - I like the screen media aspect, and having the car's information there as well, but I really don't need the navigation option.
Also, the really poor support of Android devices is a really lame. But then I bought the car for the handling so.... Lol |

Personally, I liked it better in the E8X and E9X cars where are just storage bins. |

I wish I had NAV just for the stereo control. Trying to scroll through the USB with two lines of text sucks. Streaming from the phone to the stereo would be nice too.
