Realistic GVW limit?
I use my car daily to do local deliveries, and about twice a month it's a fairly large, heavy, load. Would a 2-4000 lb. load, in addition to my 230 lbs, be dangerous? The car handles fine, if a bit sluggish, and I don't drive aggressively when I have that size load. I'm planning on lowering springs/shocks in the spring, depending on their ability to work with the demands I place on the car.

If you're carrying it inside the car then you're probably doing some damage as I think the car would be rated for at most five adults and luggage... So 1500-2000 lbs max.
If you're towing I've seen numbers around 1500 with a standard square bar hitch, and 4000 with a direct attachment similar to execuhitch. The main difference being the play in the square bar (I don't recall why this mattered). |

I have pulled 3,000lbs a few times and it wasn't an issue, but I would not want to do it regularly. The car is sluggish and the brakes aren't sufficient. I don't think the car is built to pull that, regardless of what the manufacturer or anyone else might say.
Since you are in Pasco and if you are hauling wine, I will come help though and we can split the load. Especially if it is Cayuse or Figgins or Reynvaan or Rasa or.... |

1 x 10 ream box of paper is 50 lbs, so that would be a lot of paper inside the car. I believe a pallet of paper is 2000 lbs, and that's 40 boxes. I can't see fitting that much into an X1

I don't see why not either... Not like i ever carried 2x4's, large plywood sheets, etc. in it...
Realistically speaking it is a wagon... If you weren't planning to carry stuff in it you would have bought a 3 series instead ;-) |

I'm afraid that my normal usage will be a real test of the X1's capabilities. All of my driving is in town, many stops, and often hard acceleration getting in and out of tight traffic. I never drive it on weekends, and it sits outside. It's difficult to ingress/egress with my fused spine (C2-T2) but I have that problem with almost every car.
