Bluetooth Audio streaming with iphone
Just picked up the car an hour ago (will get pics later tonight!) and I can't get my iPhone 6 Plus or my wife's iPhone 5C to connect for audio. The BT connects and I can make/receive calls but no music. When they connect the only services listed is telephone, no option or box for audio.
I've seen other threads of people having issues but I haven't found a solution that makes audio appear. The phones can definitely do it as it worked fine on the mini van we just traded in.... It's a new 2015 no line with the technology package/I drive. Would appreciate any help! |

Yeah I though I had BT audio as well, turns out just phone connectivity. But I found a work around using a BT receiver adapter with the iPhone/iPod jack that plugs in the dash. All you do is plug and connect to the BT receiver and you can play music from your device. It also switches automatically when you get a call

Interesting. Mind showing me what you got? I definitely find it a bit weak that the technology package does not include that when you already have Bluetooth connectivity for the phone. I'm connecting it via a lightning cable to the USB port right now and the sound quality is really good so it's not the end of the world but I'd prefer the cable free cleanness that Bluetooth offers.

Sure thing I'll snap a pic in the morning. Here's a link to something similar.

Why not move all your music to a USB drive and use that, comes with the added bonus of saving GBs of space on your phone?
You can still browse by artist, genre etc as long as its all tagged.

I use my phone as my music player at the gym already so all my songs are already there and would remain there regardless. I just find it more convenient to have one device to play music for all my needs. |

Ahh ok, my suggestion still stands though - you can get really small 32gb drives - you could just clone your collection over to it - you effectively get the same result without all the wires.

Thanks, I may do this so there are no wires. I just know I'll end up getting lazy and there will be a delay from when I put new songs on my phone to when I get around to putting them on the stick in the car. But probably my best option if I want to be wire free. |

Enhanced Bluetooth is part of the Tech Package (at least in US). I believe the A2DP profile on the iPhone has been updated or something of the sort. It should work. I wouldn't be able to stand the quality though.

I'm in Canada and I've found out that it's part of a separate $850 package that my car didn't come with. It's the one that gets you the bmw apps I believe.

Look deeper and in some other menus... I can't recall where
The first time I connected my Samsung S5 it looked like it was voice only, but after digging through the iDrive menus I found a check box for BT media and it worked immediately. Also update your IDrive to the latest version. There is a page on the BMW website that will ask for the last seven digits of your VIN and allow you to download the latest version. |

These things are standard usage these days from Hyundai to Honda, but not from BMW. I have to use a flash drive to play music that sounds OK. I don't care about phones. Does anybody want to drag CDs around, anymore?

When I paired my phone it didn't automatically set up the audio. I had to go back to my phone in the Bluetooth settings and go to Options and then configure phone and click the audio button. It works fine on my 2014.
