Yeah, overall I'm not a huge fan. I knew they were going to shorten the front, and I knew I wouldn't like the look of the result. IMO it looks too much like every other CUV out there today. The character of the current gen X1 is lacking. Having said that, I like most of the changes from the front and rear angles.

I agreee I think the F48 is terrible! The car looks like the X3 and the X4... All BMW had to do is give the X1 LED headlights as an option, bring the interior up to par with the 3 series, and give the X1 a backup camera without the technology package and they would be in business. It just looks to much of an x3 and x4, and its now to big. The X1 dominates a category of it's own and now they have brought it into X3 territory. The last chance of the X1 surviving is keeping the price at a low. Thats how i got an X1 and a BMW, because of its affordable price tag. Not even the GLA can compete with that! What is everyone else's opinion? |

Found this comparison.
http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/06/03/e8...to-comparison/ I've seen the dimensions on another site. The F48 is about 2" shorter and 2" taller but with a longer wheelbase so more rear seat space. The interior looks straight out of the 1 series |

I don't like the iDrive screen, it looks like someone mounted a tablet on the dash. My 2013 screen location looks much more polished.

Yeah I prefer the E84 interior by a mile. Not a fan of the pop up tablet style, looks cheap. Exterior I life the front lights but not the rear again it's like the F20 lci lights.... Quite happy to have recently picked up my E84 :-)

I love the interior. The exterior is much better looking, a lot less awkward. The M sport rear bumper is just plain ugly. It's a shame it's going to be FWD based with "xDrive" as an option. The haldex system won't be nearly as able as the real xDrive system the current E84 has.
I think the F48 will sell better over its life span because it looks less like an overgrown clown shoe, and more like a proper SUV. The E84 can't decide wether it want's to be a car or an SUV. Sharing parts with the mini also means the starting price will be lower. I'm on the wait list for the F87, I'm thinking I'll be happy to be in a coupe again.

Hey hey hey. The E84 has 2 console cup holders. You just need T-Rex arms to use one, but that's not BMW's problem.

Save your money
Go buy a Mini Cooper Countryman. Check out the Car and Driver review of the new F48. One of BMW's executives allegedly said the absence of a 6cyl engine option is a problem. BMW is alienating a whole subset of performance enthusiasts. Yes, the E84 with 6cyl was low volume seller, but I surmise that the same can likely be said about the X3 with 6cyl. Shame to butcher one of the last great true BMW vehicles to make it part of the rest of the company's crossover fleet without any differentiation like the current model.

Is it just me or does this really look like X3? Also, that wheels are making it look kinda like KIA sportage from the sides for me. It looks quite big and I know it's bigger as well.
Now I think it looks like any other SUV and hence lose that uniqueness that e84 has at least for me. Interior looks way modern than e84's and I like it and that sport line with red stitching seats - they look hot and luxurious Current rear seats are so stiff and when combined with stiffer sport suspension on M Package I can't imaging what it would do to passengers while doing autocross and I'm planning to do some with my parents in near future I like those circular wheel arches. I don't understand why they have this weird wheel arches on e84. Overall, it's quite an update but the body and the engine don't quite do it for me.

I love my 2015 xDrive28i Msport but think this new model is a major step up on the interior and a bit better looking on the exterior. Driving dynamics are still TBD but I think we all know that it will likely not be quite as good given the FWD architecture and the worse AWD system.
I must say that I am pleased in that it doesn't look totally different (on the exterior) so as to instantly age our X1s. That is a plus in my mind. People on this board can easily spot the exterior differences but I think most people couldn't. Especially if you have an Msport with 19 inch wheels like I do. pretty dissapointed :l might as well buy none the x1 x3 x5 all looks the same now believe it or not i mixed up the x3 once for an x5 =-=
as much as bmw finally achieved the suv look. congrats. the car to me should've remained some what of a 4wd beefed up wagon look to go more against the audi all road. the long noes and longer wheel base with RWD was a great thing the LCI E84 was perfect in terms of exterior aesthetic proportions, if you lowered the car it looked very nice. But many who do buy this see it more for functionality but i am keen to see what companies or people do in terms of modding. +1 to those seats though they look high quality .

Overall they did a much better job than what I expected considering it is a transverse engine car. Now we just have to wait and see how it drives. I didn't consider this as a replacement for my leased E84 before (mainly waiting for VW Alltrack), but now I seriously consider it. I hope the price is comparable to the current car.
BTW it is still heavy, almost as heavy as the current car. I expect it to be a very solid car. BMW has shown that they can make a great driving FWD based car (Mini). |
