New Discovery Sport
I'm really liking the look (and price) of this car. I especially like how you can black it out with a package that gives black badges, grill and wheels, and that package is even available on the base model. Price starts at $38k. I think this could be my next vehicle.

Like every other vehicle in that brand. It will spend more time at the dealership than your garage.

It's way smaller than a ford explorer, about a foot and a half shorter. I suppose exterior styling is similar from certain angles, but the interior and everything else is totally different.
Edit: I just took a look at the explorer, and the only resemblance I can see is the slanted C-pillar. Other than that I don't see any similarities. It looks more like a mini Range Rover Sport. |

The Evoque is loosely based on the old Fusion platform and shares many underpinnings. It uses the same ecoboom engine as the Fusion. All of which equal a "no thanks" to me.
The Discovery has been a much larger vehicle than the x1. Did they downsize it? People post competitors on forums all the time. This site is yawn city so it's nice to have some subjects to discuss, even if they aren't x1-based. |

Actually this is the Discovery Sport, so just like the Range Rover Sport is a more sporty and smaller version compared to the Range Rover, this new Discovery Sport is a smaller and more sporty version of the Discovery.

Ah, I see. I found the length. At 180.7in long, it's just a bit longer than the x1. |

It has a very basic feature which I wish all SUVs would have. The positioning of the second row of seats can slide forward or back. I had this many years ago in a Chevy Equinox. It makes a smaller SUV so much more flexible because you can leave the seats in the rear most position most of the time which gives much more back seat space, and then for those occasions when you need the extra storage space in the trunk, you can move the seats forward or even fold them down. With the seats in the rear most position, Land Rover says there is as much back seat space as the full size Range Rover.

Good, Bad or Indifferent in June 2008, Ford sold both Land Rover and Jaguar Cars to the Indian Tata Motors
Also, one test was 2013 xDrive28i and the other with a 2014 xDrive35i. Difference?

Land Rover/Jaguar has actually developed a new 4 cylinder turbo engine that will first appear in a Jaguar sedan this year, and apparently it will replace the Ford sourced engine in the Discover Sport in 2016. I'm not sure of its specs, but I'm guessing more power and probably better gas mileage as well. There's also talk that they may bring a diesel over to the US as well.

I don't like the trend of using flat, or matte finish paint on vehicles. Half the fun of ownership is getting it to shine. BTW; I think it looks a lot like my wife's Edge Sport.
