Break in Fluid changes
It's time to do some break in fluid(1200 miles) changes for my 2014 X1 335. Consulting with Mike Miller I have decided to change the following:
1. Oil and filter 2. Transfer case oil 3. Front and rear differential oil. Has anybody done this? Did you use a dealer or independent? Does anybody know what fluid is used in the transfer case and differentials? Thanks for your help. Sorry for the cross posting. |

IMHO, I'd wait until about 3000 to do the first oil change. New BMW engines have synthetic oils (not Dino oil that needed the break-in oil change at 1200), so can go longer to give the internals a chance to break-in. I'd post the question on the "bobistheoilguy" forum in the European car section.
You will have crawl under the x to read the oil stickers on the gearbox & transfer cases for oil type. Getbmwparts lists the BMW gear oils for sale on their site
