The RDX is the same size as the X3 and competes with the X3. Would everyone on this board agree the MDX competes with the X5? It's the same size as the X5 and list for $4K less than the X5 just like the RDX is the same ice as the X3 and is a couple grand less. The RDX and X1 are more dissimilar than similar and certainly Acura brought out the RDX to compete with the original X3 and now the new X3. Acura is not going to price there vehicles the same as BMW or they wouldn't sell any. The X1 is only similar in price and will compete with the Q3 later this year. Just because Consumer reports says it competes against the RDX doesn't make it true. What does the X3 compete with then at Acura?

I'd say the RSX is a competitor to both the X1 35i and X3, but not necessarily to the 28i/20i/20d/18d. We're right now considering an RSX as a car for SWMBO - either that, or an Evoque. While the RSX has a bigger engine, more space and lower price, the Evoque just drives much better. |

RDX X3 X1
183.5 183.0 176.5 length 73.7 74.1 70.8 width 66.1 65.4 60.8 height Why would the X1 compete with RDX? Obviously the people at Consumer Reports don't have a clue about branding especially premium brands. BMW is the leading premium brand and most profitable and will price themselfs at the top of the pyramid. BMW sets its pricing around profit margin and its main competitors Audi and Mercedes. Additionally if you have a family of 5 or two large kids you would never consider the X1 because of size. Their review basically said you can get a bigger vehicle for the same price as an X1 ( dah ). People buying the X1 are buying it because its smaller dumbasses (Consumer Reports) and because its the lowest priced BMW and handles like a sedan.

The X1 is just the perfect size for my wife and I, no kids. But we can still pick up people from the airport if we had to. Fold down the seats, and now you have a vehicle for long trips, and still can handle any weather.

Infiniti is different than Acura because Infiniti uses a bespoke (except for the 370z) rear wheel drive platform for most their brand. Every acura is based on either the civic or fwd accord platform.
