Alot of reviews on the net have comments from viewers that say its quite ugly.
I don't know if I'm biased, but I actually think its one of the best, no wait, is the best looking compact suv on the planet in my opinion. |

One interesting point that the review makes it that it's the cheapest BMW on the market, which means it's probably going to sell relatively more, which means there may become a surplus, and thus low second-hand values.
It may also attract a lot of buyers who otherwise wouldn't buy BMW, and who don't buy it to drive it like a BMW, but to be seen driving one. For sedate values of "driving", that is, like 0-60 in 2 minutes, being allergic to acceleration. Drives with fog lights on to be noticed even more. Has "family" stickers in the rear window. Brakes for leaves. You know the type. I hope I am wrong, and that I won't get to hate my fellow X1 drivers. Ah well, at least it might mean more and better 3rd party supplies for it. |

I hear ya. One part of me really doesn't want to see myself at every intersection. I like the fact it may not be a car for everyone. But I'm sure the lower price of admission will conspire against my selfishness.

Cheapest X1: sDrive 28i, $30650 MSRP Cheapest 1: 128i Coupe, $31200 MSRP The cheapest 3 series in the US is $36500 MSRP for the 328i Sedan. Of course, few will buy these base models without adding expensive "line" items and extras. Also, here in the US we get neither the cheaper/smaller gasoline engines, nor the more expensive (but cheaper to drive) diesel engines. So if comparing, make sure you don't compare with models we don't get |

Here the X1 is priced €13.000(!!) higher than the cheapest 1 and €5000 higher than the cheapest 3. All are the entry level petrol engines. I hear a lot about packages, is it that options are only available through those packages? Here we just have some packages but every option is available seperately. |

The MSRP on my X1 is just under $50k. I could get a loaded 135is for that. |

Although it is a bit lighter I think many reviewers are influenced by the idea it has the 6 speed. Personally I felt that the additonal power and bigger brakes was def a plus. I always do the shifting so by and arge the fewer gears just meant less shifting and no doubt worse gas mileage, a sacrifice I make for fun driving Last edited by M3tallicar; 12-30-2012 at 11:47 AM.. |

Some smaller SUVs look fragile from some angles. Not the X1. |

The X1 grew on me. I do like it better than most other compact xovers, including the Infiniti EX and the last generation X3. However, I like the looks of the new X3, Q5, and Evoque better.

Then again, my taste in cars go back many decades, and none of today's cars evoke the same feelings in me as, say, a Ferrari 250 GTE. |
