That looks great, but as others have said, it really depends what you need out of the car.
I got the X1 knowing I was going to lower it, but not lower it to the point where I might as well have gotten a 3 series. Some of the more rural roads here in China blows, so while I would love to slam mine, it would just defeat the purpose of me purchasing the X1 in the first place. So I guess I'm pretty happy with the current height of my car with the H&R springs. You can definitely tell my car is lowered, but I can still drive on shitty roads not having to worry about much.

I was just playing around as said before I don't think with the wheels spacers I have on order 15mm f and 20mm b that would work anyway....... but it does look sweet.... again just playing around as endless d did his and looks sick.

I went the LeMans route but you're making Valencia looks oh-so-good. If you've got the means go for the suspension. That would definitely turn some heads.

Do you know what the stock offset for the M Sport wheels are? I have 4x20mm spacers all around on mine (because my wheels' offset were super none-aggressive at ET45...), so I'm currently at ET25 all around and there are definitely space to push it more in the back. I think ET25 is pretty good for the front though, wouldn't want them to pop past the fender...

I drive mine daily being more than 3" lower... I did have to do some fender work due to running wider wheels and spacers but I can go over speed bumps no problem and I've taken trips through New York and New Jersey and the roads there are terrible. Clearance is not an issue at all, the low profile tires and expensive BBS wheels is my only concern on a daily basis. The tires are sized for my 335 and I'll be putting stockers back on in a few weeks and going up a size in sidewall for next spring.

I usually don't care much for the lowered look (though I like what it can do for the handling!) but I do think the X1 is too high as it is in stock form. I think they did it to give it a bit more of that 'Off road look' which is IMHO silly since its not a proper off road vehicle anyways. Will I drive it in the snow where AWD is a very good thing to have? Yes. Will I even sometimes drive it down dirt roads or fire trails or through a grass field transformed into a parking lot? Yes. Will I ever take it really off road? No. Would I be fine doing all those things even if it was lowered 1 to 2 inches? Absolutely.
I think dropped a little bit and putting 19" wheels to fill in those too large wheel arches would make it look a lot better. But I probably won't do that either because it would likely ruin the ride (roads in CA are really in crappy shape and this is my "confortable car" ) |
