LED brow on US X1??
alright, I was thinking this was standard on US X1 but maybe not? Search yielded nothing and after squinting at various models on BMW site it appears that MAYBE the X line gets the LED brow??
I give up, please inform this dummy |

The Xenon lighting package comes with the LED Corona rings, but no 'brow.' The standard lights are pretty plain (but bright). xLine doesn't include any changes to lighting, according to the order guide.

Got the brow on the 135i - I think it looks ridiculous.
Actually, it (35i) looks like it DOES have the brow... too bad. Last edited by Bill B.; 10-11-2012 at 11:31 AM.. |

watching the bmw x1 design lights video, looks like it has the LED brow, although maybe that's for the european version?
In this customer pickup thread, it sort of looks like an LED brow http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=732485 |

My 2012 135i headlight has Xenon's with incandescent angel eyes, and I think LED (white) brows. It's a hot mess. Maybe the X1 will pull it off better... Last edited by Bill B.; 10-11-2012 at 11:47 AM.. |

Maybe the 35 has them, but the standard light 28 doesn't (see attached). Nor does the equipment list mention them... ("Xenon Adaptive Headlights with auto-leveling, and LED Corona headlight-rings").
A photos of the Xenons on LeftLaneNews does suggest that the headlights have some sort of accent along the top edge, maybe a reflector or prism effect going on? Or non-US spec? |

Right. The halogen 28i's don't have them, but the 28i's with Xenon look exactly like the 35i's.

The option for the adaptive xenon headlights on the 28i (standard on 35i) comes with the brow, hard to see during the day but very clear and visible at night, saw it just an hour ago, looks pretty cool! To me seems bright enough to not be reflective, I think it's its own lighting |

Hi guys, I just bought a 2012 Bmw x1 base model, no xenon headlights, just halogen.
Do you know if it is possible to actually change the headlights by yourself to xenon and have the LED brows. Or could a aftermarket carshop or the dealer do it? I live in Vancouver, BC Canada by the way. |

Anything is possible. Though doing this is pretty expensive. The OEM lamps are only available as a complete headlight assembly. You can get the assembly without adaptive headlights for $680 each. Then the cost of labor and re-coding.
EDIT: I forgot about the auto-leveling... That would be required for the xenons as well, if your halogens don't already have that capability. Look here: http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556512 Last edited by Bill B.; 10-18-2012 at 07:49 AM.. |
