X1 alternate wheels for snow
My plan is to buy another set of rims for the X1 xdrive28i Sport I've ordered; I believe the Sport comes with 18" wheels?
I had thought to swap to 17" wheels during the winter, as I understand that a higher profile tire tends to be better for snow handling? Can anyone advise what 17" wheel and bolt profile are used with the X1? Too, any suggestions for (unstudded) snow tires? A friend has blizzaks on his Audi S4 and he's quite happy with them. |

Tirerack has the X1 listed and snow tires available. Call Alex @ ext294.

Ah Taboe! So jealous. I normally spend a month in South Lake Tahoe skiing, but this coming season is trashed already due to my health and the need for a mid-winter surgery... Doh! Have to turn in my Heavenly season pass.
I second Tire rack. You can also check at BMW Kirsch ( google them) in Germany. They have an online shop and may sell inexpensive steel wheels or 17inch alloys with winter tires pre-mounted. If you don't use BMW wheels you will need to make sure the TPMS works on the aftermarket wheels. |

Thanks for the advise; I was hoping, though, to find out specifcis re: what size WHEEL (offset, centerbore, etc) I'd need to fit an X1? I have a line on some stock 17" 5x120 bolt pattern X5 wheels - would these, for instance, work on an X1?
