Griot’s G9 + BOSS Correcting Cream Before CQuartz UK 3.0 – Need Advice

Got the Griot’s G9 2-Step BOSS Kit which came with free BOSS Correcting Cream and BOSS Finishing Sealant.

My new M440i came without the hood film—now has swirl marks, spider webbing, and a few scratches.

Plan:
  1. Correct with BOSS Correcting Cream
  2. (Optional?) Finishing step – Use BOSS Finishing Sealant or a quick pass with CarPro Essence (I have half a bottle)
  3. Wipe down with CarPro Eraser
  4. Apply CQuartz UK 3.0

Question: Should I use BOSS Finishing Sealant or Carpros Essence polish before coating, or skip both? Want proper prep for best bonding.

Thanks!

If you are going to be applying a coating you don't want to use either of those beforehand because they both have protection built in already. After the correction stage you want to use some finishing polish without any fillers or protection in them. The coating willl be your protection.

We don't use or carry Griots products in our shop, but plenty of other options we could recommend for the finishing step

A very common step used is Final stage polish with Essence Xtreme gloss primer
followed by UK3.
Carpro has stated there is no need to paint prep wipe after Essence but most people do.

It is what I generally use as my coating routine with UK3.
Essence plus is what you don't want to use before coating since it is a sealant with fillers.

^ This. you can use Carpro essence prior as it is the primer polish to UK3. Don't use the Griots sealant.

Which finishing polish do you recommend?

Carpros lists this as a semi-permanent filler and primes the surface for coating.

Correct

The orange bottle I have

Last year, I used this for correction on the new X5, it removed some defects, but not all. This time, I need to step up the cut/defect removal by using Boss Correcting Cream. Saw good reviews about it.

Make sense

This is the updated plan.

Plan:
  1. Correct with BOSS Correcting Cream
  2. (Optional) A quick pass with CarPro Essence (Orange bottle). I will see if there is a need to enhance gloss.
  3. Wipe down with CarPro Eraser
  4. Apply CQuartz UK 3.0
  5. For the 2nd layer, since I have half a bottle of CQ.UK left over from X5 application. Will be applying Gyeon Q˛ CanCoat EVO after 24 hours.
