Brake pad warning light, but pads are fine
The brake pad warning (plus red service picture) appeared on my wife's X1 last week. By the time she took it into the garage later that day, the light had gone out.
The brake pads are fine and after a 300 mile drive this weekend, no more warning lights. The garage have reset all the errors in the computer so they can see if anything is happening (there were other errors in the making it had to interpret). They're saying that it's definitely not some random glitch, but could be transmission related (time to get rid?). I don't really understand what's going on. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any other thoughts? |

Hey Andrew, that's strange. I'd guess something to do with your connection (water in box, etc). There's a little black box behind the spring in wheel well, maybe check and see if that it shut.
Also, if this comes back, it's really (!!) easy to fix. Cable is ~$8, in stock at Oreilly and Autozone, no tools needed. Mine went out due to the brake dust guard (metal disc behind calipers) rubbing against the cable and cutting into the wire, which tripped it like the brakes were worn down. |
