2021 Porsche 992 911 Turbo S
"The 992-generation 911 Turbo S will produce 640 horsepower and 590 b-ft of torque, and Porsche claims it'll reach 60 mph in 2.6 seconds (2.7 seconds for the cabriolet model), blast through the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds, and hit a top speed of 205 mph.
The 992-generation Turbo S makes 60 more horsepower and 37 lb-ft more torque than its predecessor. The 3.8-liter flat-six is equipped with bigger variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers that have electrically adjustable wastegate flaps and piezo injectors. The two symmetrical turbos' turbine wheels spin in opposite directions and are now 2.2 inches in diameter, up 0.2 inch, and the compressor wheel is now 2.4 inches, up 0.1 inch from the previous model. The result: 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S starts at $204,850, with the 911 Turbo S cabriolet starting at $217,650. Both models will be available for order soon and will arrive at dealerships late this year." - Car and Driver https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...s-photos-info/ |

I've never cared for the 911 vert's but the coupe is just spectacular. What a beast, but how they have evolved the platform. It is no longer the light weight nimble car it started out as. Still perfection though.

They are still quite light by today’s standards. Mind you, an M2 Competition which is smaller in footprint, not nearly as wide, and doesn’t have AWD weighs more. Same with the M3/4.

Had the privilege of driving a 991.1 Turbo S Cabrio, thing was spectacular, certifiably fast for a 100% stock car. Such an awesome vehicle.
IMO, the 991.1 and 991.2 look better than the 992. I'd still take any newer gen if it were given to me though.... |

I think, at least for the Carerra models, the Sport Front Fascia makes the front end look much better, the turbo 992 looks a bit too much like the regular carerra front end which I don't mind but don't like as much as the sport fascia.

Conissah, how much better of an experience was the Turbo S over the M2C? I can only imagine. Must have been the highlight of your day to test drive a Turbo S. From my previous posts, you know I'm only interested in M2s and 911s, which makes sense in a way since they are around the same size. Caymans seem underpowered to me. M4 is too big plus the grille. Although I lust over a new Turbo S, at $205K with another $35k in options and taxes, this makes the M2 CS seem a lot easier to obtain especially for someone with housing costs, etc.

Yes, 911 pricing is getting pretty rediculous. I love the turbo, but if I were getting a 911 I'd 100% want a manual, so a Carrera S, or GT3 would be perfect, although at this point, a Boxster/Cayman would probably be more agile and fun to drive.

Some say that the 911 GTS which is usually an upgraded S may be the sweet spot. GT3 allocations are hard to obtain unless you are a VIP at a dealer which takes years and lots of purchases to achieve.

Yep, anyone getting a GT3 Allocation is incredibly lucky. I especially loved the GT3 with the understated Touring pack. There's a used 991.2 GT3 sitting at my dealer for over a month just under $200k and everytime I see it I start to drool |

That being said, the 911 was in another realm. I've been in a couple 4 digit horsepower cars before, and those obviously felt like a rocket, but the Turbo S does it in such a German manner, very precise. The fit and finish of everything was fantastic, the slap of the ridiculous launch control, the stupid quick shifts of the PDK, the time-warp feeling of laying into the pedal, and it's all covered by a WARRANTY, it blew my mind. Granted, this was 2 years ago and I didn't have the M then (hell, I was still in college), but they're entirely different. I love my M2C to death, even more than I thought I would. Even if I COULD afford a Turbo S, I would take a 991.2 GT3 with a 6MT in UltraViolet, but I'm a manual advocate and I love purple. Also, I just want to note that working on the Turbo S was much easier than one would expect, especially considering some choice Mercedes sedans that we seemingly always had in the shop. The headlights are held in by a special clip/mechanism that only works with a proprietary Porsche tool, took me maybe 20 seconds to remove them both. The front bumper took me under 20 minutes to take off, 2 special "slide" clips and some torx, came right off. It was impressive. Same with the door panel, the leather was AMAZING, and the bolts were hidden behind a panel that you didn't know was a panel; I think it was 3 bolts and some clips, and it came right off. No fuss, no fighting. |

I do not like the stick shifter.
I have disliked it since seeing it on photos, I disliked it when I saw it in person on the 992 release party at DTLA Porsche, I STILL dislike it now. GRRR

There's a simple fix for that, at least for non-Turbo modes

not a fan of the bumpers and wheel choice. It doesn't really look much better than a carrera. hopefully the gt3 looks better and they drop that atrocious wing in the nurburgring photos. the 991.2 GT3 looks killer though.

If the Cayman is underpowered, then get the Cayman GTS 4.0 or the GT4. These are closer in spec to the M2.

It's round and it's attached to a stick. Must be from a GTI
