Automatic Headlights behaviour
I recently moved from an E83 (X3) to a late 2015 E84 (X1). In time I will explain to my spouse that an E85 can only be the next car. For now:
On the X3, turning off the key with the light switch on auto turned off the headlights while leaving the radio, windows on. On the X1, the headlights switch to the parking lights and stay on until the fob is removed or the light switch turned to off. There doesn't seem to be a time out to go off. I can understand it since you are still sitting in the car and "parked", so parking lights on, but the commute involves waiting underground at a ferry, onto the ferry, then a dark rural road home and it's easy to forget to switch the lights back on (mandatory daytime running lights in Canada). Is that the default behaviour or is there something I have overlooked? |

They should turn to DRL when you turn off the engine. The car should, after 15 minutes or so, turn off the remaining accessories if you do not lock the car. If you exit the car and lock it then the vehicle will start to go to sleep.
