Newbie to the forum
Hi All,
After 4 decades and a dozen VW and Audi cars and projects, I'm sticking with German, but shifting to the BMW camp! Took quite a while to find our '13 X1 (Ultimate, Mineral Grey, Oyster Leather, 28K miles) But its was worth the search It's a new world for me, I'll use the search, but there will be lots of dumb questions I'm sure... You know, unlike so many other forum groups I really don't notice a lot of "use the search tool" comments in this particular subforum.
So while I do not discourage you from searching first, feel free to fire away! |

GTony, were starting with a few basics, more protection than mods I guess. The Mrs. feels its perfect the way it is, but I can never seem to leave things be
The basics Tint - 50% front, 35% rear and trunk Bumper guard - Proving to be more difficult to obtain than I thought !! Mud Mats - Just received a set of 3DMaxpiders, look slick, well see how they hold up against the weathertechs i've used in the past. Roof Rack - Sticking with Thule, since I have all the goods already. Soon to come: Laminx on the front clip and headlamps, the gravel roads up here sandblast everything!! Brakes - Not sure if it needs an 'upgrade' just better rotors and pads I think. Lighting upgrade and Angel eye install Really don't thing it needs any more HP as my 15 YO will be driving it soon. Dangerous enough as-is i think. Any other ideas? |

Is the tint % due to state/local laws? I wouldn't do anything less than 35%, as a higher % really doesn't do much. 35 all around keeps good visibility while reducing heat/UV rays, 30 front/15 back is much better (and still legal many places) but night visibility is slightly hampered when backing up.
Sounds very tasteful though! Quote:

Mostly for a little UV protection and a little shade in the summer, heats not a killer like down south. Plus, we don't want to hamper too much visibility with a new driver!
I remember having 5% all around as a teenage driver, looked sweet, but I couldn't see a damn thing at night, besides being a cop magnet. |

Oh the Snow....

Just got a 12" dump of snow, X1 on all seasons handled it better than my Silverado w/ AT's. It plowed a path right down the driveway. Should have taken a photo :thump: It will be a tank next year with some Hakkepelitas. |
