I am getting a x5 blackvermillion it is in frozen black but the previous owner had it ppf. How would y'all suggest me washing it since it has ppf on it? Also first time with a matte car.

Watch all the Dr. Beasley's video for Matte car care. I have the Frozen Portimao Blue and love it. Just use Dr. Beasley's for everything. Lots of post already on this topic as well, so do some searching of the forums.

If the ppf is Xpel if you wax the film, be sure the product you are using doesn’t contain Naphtha or Kerosene in concentrations over 5%.

I have the same car. I also had matte ppf and I do use Dr Beasley, but when I first washed the car with the foam cannon I just use surface wash from griots garage Then I use Dr Beasley's for matte finish But technically, you can use pretty much what you want because it's got PPF on it

Rain will get it wet, but doesn't clean it!

I have, and am familiar with both Frozen paints and Xpel PPF Stealth (matte) products. As mentioned, Dr Beasley's will have about everything you need. And, really, it's not too difficult to maintain.
Biggest thing...do not use anything that "enhances gloss or adds shine". And do not agitate or scrub the surface. These things are fine for gloss paint, but NOT matte surfaces. Debris is removed with chemical means on matte, versus mechanical means on gloss. You need to dissolved the debris and wipe it away versus scrub it off. Since you have matte PPF, look at the Dr Beasley FILM CLEANSER...this will be the one to help remove and stuck-on debris from time to time that doesn't come off with just washing. Beyond that, the MATTE BODY WASH will be a go-to product, and then the MATTE BEAD HERO for a sacrificial protection layer and beading enhancer. If you like to "quick detail", you can use the MATTE WATERLESS WASH for this purpose, although it's not a necessary thing...more for OCD people that just like the process. |
