Dynoed my X1 35i today
So I signed up for English Racing's dyno day a few weeks ago but had to leave before I could run to make it to my buddies wedding on time. They were nice enough to let me come back up another time to get my pulls in. The car is 100% stock and I wanted to get a baseline before adding any parts to it.
At this point I have decided to wait until spring to modify the X1. Warranty is up in March, thought it was November, so I will flash MHD in March and start adding bolt-ons. 292AWHP & 300AWTQ

wow, that's some nice whp there. I was really expecting more losses from the xdrive drive train. If we assume 15% loss, your engine must be making close to 340 at the wheels - stock!

MHD sounds awesome but the unlocking of the DME ECU sounds like a royal pain.

Curious what yours would read with a JB4 on setting 1 and 2! 5 would need learning so you couldn't do it all at once. I need to buy an upgraded charge pipe again so I can run mine on 2 or 5 instead of just 1... the BMW stock one broke on my last X1, so I don't want to do that again.

If you're mechanically inclined at all it's not bad. I'll remove the DME myself and have Ken (Wedge Performance) bench flash the DME. At this point I don't know if I just want to run a E30 tune or turbo swap.

I wish I had someone local that could unlock the DME but I don't. I would expect the car to be down at least 5 days which I do not have the luxury of doing.

I have been running the e85 backend flash that Burger has out there for free stacked with JB4 for boost control and gauges on the app, etc. |

The DME removal kinda sucked, but once you remove the intake manifold once it's not that bad. I'm enjoying the freedom to switch maps now to whatever I want, and the ability to custom-tune is even better. And I finally got my exhaust burbles. :-) (After years of being teased with my friend's 135is with the PPK tune) |

Honestly I have a bunch of reasons I don't like the JB4. It was a great option when it and Cobb were the only options. I do not like that it spoofs values so things like load and ultimately clutch torque isn't where it should be at the increased power levels. I found it to be inconsistent with power output since it doesn't have defined timing targets, it just continues to ride the knock sensor. Actually it does have defined timing targets but since load is not load actual it is targeting values that do not make sense on pump gas and the boost levels you see with the JB4. It wasn't as smooth as stock and can only log a few parameters. I understand the extra features it has but if you look at any other platform you'll see that flash tuning is the way to go.
