M3 and Hockey Players?
Hey guys - just wondering how many of you actually play hockey?
Reason I ask - I play hockey in Austin, TX which has a pretty small adult hockey community because, well, Texas. I estimate there's around 250-300 adult hockey players here and I know of at least 3 other guys besides me that drive an E9x M3. I have never seen who drives them, but I see the cars in the lot quite often. Seems like a large percentage and wonder if there's something to the demographic that makes this happen. Have just always been curious! |

I still play on 2 teams...and now coach only 1. Been coaching for the last 23 years, usually 2 teams, but since my son is in high school now, backed it down some. Between coaching and playing, I'm typically on the ice 6 or 7 days a week (my record is 35 days straight)
My son talked me in to playing on an inline team with him last season...I'll never do that again. As for cars, had an E92...Traded it in a year ago on an Audi S4. Still having buyers remorse. Last edited by ShopVac; 02-23-2017 at 02:30 PM.. |

For the past 10 or so years I've only played roller. 2 nights a week. We have decent leagues here in the Detroit area. Played ice before that and growing up.

Tried splitting 2 D in my last inline game and when down hard. Scored on the play, but broke my hand in the process missing almost an entire season of golf). Never again...I'll stick with ice.

Funny - I grew up in Vegas playing only inline for many years. Played some ice out there near the end then moved here to Austin and played inline a few more years before they got a decent ice rink out here.
I'm just surprised how many of us drive M3s, percentage-wise. Do you guys see the same at your rinks? Playing in a tournament in Nashville in June - probably get our asses handed to us, but hopefully still be some fun. What levels do you guys play? I play B2 here, but that's probably like C or D in places where hockey is more the norm. |

For the people on this forum that play hockey and drive M3s, do they notice other hockey players at their rinks that also drive M3s was the original question. I raised this simply because I have seen a lot of them at my local rink. Often wondered if there was a demographic that correlated both.

New guy just started in our league with an E92 M3. Black on black with tint and black rims. I'm starting to see more Audi's pop up though, including a nice B7 RS4.

I live in the Mitten so of course I play a bunch of hockey...it doesn't cost as much here as it does in a lot of other parts of the country (there's 6 rinks within striking distance from me), but I assume the higher cost of the sport can be attributed to players owning higher cost cars.
Just in case any of you were wondering, 3 sets of hockey equipment can fit into a 1er. |
