If you are going to buy an official Carly adapter - save 5 bucks
Before you buy an adapter for the BMWhat Carly app, read this post for a code good for 5 Euro/$ off...

Question for anyone whos done coding with Carly.
I was talking with a friend who has a 2011 335d and told him about the coding stuff. We are thinking about just splitting the cost of the app+adaptor and coding both our cars, but hes really interested in trying to change his iDrive/nav stuff to German, can Carly do that? Ive found on other forums some information on doing it via computer to car stuff with more complex coding software, but no mention of language stuff on Carly's website. Can anyone confirm Carly does or does NOT do language changes? Thanks! |

Check here.
http://www.mycarly.com/product/bmw-codings/ And if you're using Android be sure to get the V2 Bluetooth adapter. As I found out the hard way, the original adapter can't code iDrive so I'm still stuck with the startup screen :-/ |

I was going to pick up the Carly adapter, but Amazon is out of stock and when I tried to order online directly they said they no longer ship to the US.
Does anyone have experience using other non-Carly adapters with the Carly app? |

No experience (and wouldn't trust it).
MAKE SURE TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE GETTING THE VERSION 2 ADAPTER. With Version 1 you can't code iDrive... like me... |

^Thanks I'll look into it. I was thinking of doing that flash anyway.
On another note, I was hoping there would be a way with the carly app since I already have the app and adapter. |

I haven't used winkfp but my understanding is that is used for flashing and special instructions only.
For coding i use NCExpert and ncsdummy with cable. I don't recommend using Bluetooth adapters for coding since it's a wireless transmission of data without buffer and any disruption of communication can render a module fault. |

To me it is safer and I'd like to dig deeper and have freedom of editing options and adding custom parameters. Some people are reporting damaged modules with Bluetooth adapters and others never had problems. I like to play safe.
