Chinese X1, ie. the Zinoro 1E looks ready to go
BIMMERPOST NEWS Chinese X1, ie. the Zinoro 1E looks ready to go Well, the first product to come out under the co-branded Zinoro brand (the result of a partnership between BMW and China's own Brilliance automotive company) will likely be the Zinoro 1E which is to be based on the X1. What can be seen from the picture is that the styling will obviously be HEAVILY X1 based, but what is not known is how the powertrain and components will figure into the equation, however strong speculation right now is that this will infact be an electric vehicle to be priced reasonably for the chinese domestic market. There have been rumors that the Zinoro vehicles may actually one day be exported, but that is yet to be seen. Source: http://www.carnewschina.com/2013/10/...w-x1-in-china/ |

Um... yeah keep trying
Good to share technology to lower cost, but borrows too much styling cues. I bet as soon as it comes out, someone in china will slap a BMW badge and "M" to spice it up :P

BMW has to go where the money is...which is China, I suspect to see much more collaborations and/or catering to the Chinese markets especially as western economies continue to wane.
Oh and please kill that thing with fire

BMW haven't got anywhere in the Chinese courts for copyright of car design in the past apparently. So it's a case of "if you can't sue them, join them". Better to have a small slice of a big pie than not at all.

Stupid damn chinese always wanting to copy everything, make your own god damn 4x4.... And why the hell would BMW 'share' it's stuff with another car maker... I buy a BMW to have it unique to JUST BMW... unless this is all a piss take. Thats what annoyed me when Subaru shared the BRZ with Toyota, although you then you could say Toyota shared the GT86 with Subaru.

Iron Phosphate battery??!
DOA technology. I'm sure BMW just wants to joint venture w/ brilliance to get their foot into the door of a billion customers w/ their discarded technology to the entry level while still selling their LWB 3er and 5ers to those who can afford it. It is a business |
