cargo mat: weathertech vs OEM
Thinking about the BMW cargo mat, which is cheaper:
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...ProductId=3922 But weathertech also has a nice one, a little more expensive: http://www.weathertech.com/bmw/2013/x1/cargo-liner/ Which one would you go for? |

I have the BMW one. I got it for free when I bought the car. I was surprised at how thin it was, significantly thinner than the one I had in my old Honda CR-V. Having said that it is really grippy. You put something on it and it is very reluctant to slide around even when you are doing some spirited driving. I suspect the Weathertech one is probably thicker but I'd take the BMW grip quality over thickness anytime.

BMW Rubber mats are great. The large weather tech label sucks.

The BMW trunk mat is a lot thinner than their all weather floor mat, which is very nice and thick and substantial. The trunk mat feels cheap and lightweight.
Incidentally it's the same with their all weather floor liners (which rises up the sides like a tray)- they feel a lot lighter than the all-weather floor mats despite costing a lot more. Last edited by icemilkcoffee; 02-05-2013 at 11:52 PM.. |

I got it in mine(4 floor mats and cargo mat) its fits and does the job. Cargo mat was thinner than I thought it was going to be.

Got my tan/brown Weathertech mats today. I didn't get the rear ones yet because I wanted to see how the fronts are. The pictures don't do them justice as the color actually matches much better than these photo's show. They fit nice and I threw them on in a hurry so I could probably get them even snugger but no real gaps. I'm very impressed and would definitely recommend them.

Yes, there is no difference in the floor of S or X drive.

All I can tell you is the Weathertech site never asks you whether you have X or S drive so they are the same. I believe the BMW ones are the same they just say Xdrive so they don't have to carry addition sku's in inventory for one thing that is identical. If you were BMW would you carry 4 additional sku's which are identical (2 front black/brown and two rear black/brown). The X1 accessory catalog which shows the floor liners says Xdrive models only but the die cut looks basically identical to my Weathertechs (pattern on the mats are different).

Side note: the weather tech mats are way more durable than the OEM style mats (you posted a cargo mat (which I have), but the BMW OEM mats are also made of the same material). I have the weathertech mats in my other car and they have lasted forever, whereas the OEM style mats (which are similar to another weathertech design) have gone to shit in my mom's 2007 328 wagon

Hm, tough call . . . but I really need to get something in there. The plastic bag looks a little shabby (although it matches: black on black on black)! |

Even bags of groceries? I'm so used to a small trunk (Mini and Fiat before this) and stuff just doesn't stay put in this huge trunk space. Groceries roll everywhere!
