How Long Did It Take For Your Custom X1 to Arrive?
Ordered mine Nov 30 2012. Custom X1 being shipped to Bellevue WA.
Production complete, waiting for it to get on a boat. Hoping for it to arrive mid-Jan. How long did your custom X1 take to arrive and where was it shipped to? |

Ordered first week of October.
Scheduled to port on Christmas. ETD: Second week of January. I.e. over three months total. When I ordered it, I asked the dealer whether it was a good estimate that it would take around 6 weeks to get it, as fora postings indicated. He told me that it would likely take less, because customer production orders took priority over inventory orders. This turned out not to be exactly true. It took the dealer around seven weeks to reserve a production slot before the car was even scheduled for production. Had I known, I would, of course, have bought somewhere else, or even something else. |

no more than 6 weeks...can't remember how long it took
from time I got production# - to build - sent to port...but it sat at the port waiting to get on a ship for a mere 3 days. Ship sailed directly to Baltimore and was unloaded there and 7 days later it was at the dealer

I placed an order on Nov/26/12. Car went on production on Dec/10 with Ven. #. Then sat at the port for more than a week and get on vessel on Dec/19 instead Dec/12 ( last shipping for this year, nothing will ship until Jan/19/13). As per schedule, my X1 will arrive Dec/28/12 at Newark.Just hope I will get it before Jan/2/13.

Luckily, my vehicle made it on a boat that left Europe 12/19 headed straight for the Panama Canal (no Eastern stops). I expect the vehicle late January.

Well look up "Tracking shipments to the US" in this forum. By using his link, I have input my vin# and found out when they did the booking for transport and when my car get on the vessel. You can also go to the main web page Ocean Transport and find out each boat and it's route, schedule... There are no shipping on the schedule between 12/20/12 to 1/18/13. Sorry!

I found a link to this site, which allows you to view ship departure schedules. http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/
Looks like the next ship for Tacoma, WA leaves Dec. 29th. I checked with my dealer and he said my X1 will be on it. That basically puts my X1 delivery at early Feb 2013 assuming no delays. He also presented me with a few in stock options.... Hmmm, choices, choices. Tempted to get something in stock and not wait another six weeks. |

Ordered on 10/22, production started on 10/24, left Bremerhaven in mid-Nov, arrived at my dealer in NY on 12/05, and picked up on 12/8. So 7 weeks from entering into production to pickup.

Just closed out week #8 since I dropped deposit on Nov. 3. It was originally scheduled to arrive in NJ port on Dec 26, revised to yesterday. Dealer seemed confident it would be here next week. Started to get a little concerned with pending strike. 8 weeks is a lot of time to reconsider purchase and look at alternatives. In the end the look of the X1 still makes me smile more than others and I know the driving dynamics will keep me smiling.
Thanks to all those that contribute to this forum for keeping me entertained, educated, and reaffirming my decision. Better to hear great first hand experience than read too many reviews. Seriously, CD tore into the X1 durning their test drive after giving it a good first drive review. Funny thing is they critiqued steering where they previously said before it was better than F30, the low resistant tires with long stopping distance where the heavier X1 actually stopped 2 feet shorter than the 3, and the stop start feature, which yes could be more refined although doesn't bother me, however the same exists in 3 series. Then in the same issue, they make the F30 car one of the top 10. A little jekyll and hyde me thinks. So thanks again to those that provide every day experience making this wait not as painful! |

So I was talking to my dealer about my X1 status and it turned out that someone bailed on buying the custom X1 they had ordered months ago and he just got one in stock. I ended up buying the one in stock. It is WAYYYYY more loaded than the X1 that I ordered, but I am very happy that I spent the extra dough on the options.
Here is what I ended up with: X1 xDrive28i Mineral Grey Metallic Black Nevada Leather High-Gloss Black Trim 18" light allow wheels double-spoke style Sport Line Chrome-line exterior trim Cold Weather package Ultimate package (Tech package + Premium package + Driver Assist package) BMW Assist Had it for two days now and I am VERY happy. Amazing car and the options are worth the extra cash, especially since I plan to have my X1 for around 10 years. |

Ordered 10/4 (signed/deposit - by phone on 9/30)
Dealer said it would probably take less than 6 weeks, due to customer orders taking precedence in the system. After dealer delays in (a) getting the order in, (b) getting a slot, and (c) finishing the paperwork, totaling 3 months instead of <6 weeks, it was supposed to be delivered at my door early morning today. Yay! Is it in my driveway? Nope. I can't wait to hear what the excuse will be this time. Will our next car, to be bought later this year, be a BMW? Guess. No matter how perfect a replacement the F31 would be for our 9-5, I'd much rather know I will actually GET a car when I need it. The V70 and E-class aren't bad wagons either, I hear, and buyers tend to get actual cars, delivered in less than three months. Plus valet in manibus avis unica quam dupla silvis. |

6 weeks to get to the dealer. This was very fast for west coast delivery but the boat it was on did not make any east or south coast stops (Europe straight to Panama Canal). I was out of town so I picked it up a week later.
