I have both. Summer RFs and winter non-RFs. Cannot tell the difference as far as ride comfort is concerned.

I chose run flats and on the standard diameter wheels the ride is fine ........... I did get a screw in one at 287 miles and as they can't be repaired it cost me £289 for a replacement

I have non run flats. If you get a puncture and use the sealant the tyre must be replaced. I would advise anyone who buys the X1 to take out the BMW tyre insurance. It costs me £25 per month for 12 months and already it has paid for itself as I have had 1 puncture. The tyre was replaced along with a new can of sealant.

Just changed back to my summer RF's this last weekend and I honestly cannot tell the difference. Was wondering about that as I had been running on non-RFs since November.

I had my fifth puncture on X1 today and had it repaired for 10 Euros. I have Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFTs.

The tyre fully deflated only once and I traveled only 7-8 kilometers at a max speed of 60. Other four were because of nails getting stuck on the tyre and the lowest pressure I measure was 23-24 psi. I'm not thinking that those punctures harmed the sidewalls. Michelin and Bridgestone are saying that a RFT tyre can be repaired after fully deflating if it is not driven more than 50 miles or faster than 80 km/h and there is no sign of damage on sidewalls. Pirelli is, on the other hand still saying that a RFT should not be repaired under any circumstances. My dealer checked all 4 tyres and said that there is no sign of wear. I'll be using them this summer and will buy a new set for the next year. And thanks for the suggestion BigDave I'll be more cautious |

@manicm to further clarify, none of the punctures were on the sidewalls, all of them were stuck nails and the tyres were patched from inside and outside like a conventional tyre repair.
