Towing options
Will this work with US models? Are US models wired for towing?

Tow Hitch
Curt Mfg. now has the tow hitch available for the X1. I ordered through AutoAnything on 1/10/13 as they had a 15% discount for new customers and free shipping. Hitch and a locking pin at $158.00 shipped. Hitch ships from manufacturer. Should arrive in a couple of days. Looks like a relatively easy install.

I can see no reason why any type approved towbar for the European market Thule, Witter or Bosal wouldn't fit a US spec car. Your problems will start with the electrics, if BMW America are the same as in Europe then the factory fit electrics will only work on 7 pins even if a 13 pin socket is supplied. If they fit a 7 pin socket then expect to pay out around $5-600 to add the second 7 pin socket and the extra wiring to enable all 13 pins would cost the same
