Ding repair estimate please?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could estimate how much this repair would be on my BMW X5. Just noticed it after a carwash and the carwash people of course said it wasn't them and I have no proof it was.. 😓

Is it a ding (metal deformation), or a paint chip - I can't tell from the picture!?

If a ding, then standard per-panel/per-ding rates will apply for PDR techs. On a steel fender, it will be $150-250 range (higher end for crease work).
If just a paint chip, then you can clean up and touch-up the area with BMW or 3rd party paint kits. It will NOT be perfect, but it will look better.

Gouged plastic it looks like. That won't be fun. I'd probably remove what I can, carefully, with a razor blade then dab touch-up paint on it and call it normal wear for a daily driver.

If it needs to look like nothing happened, don't be surprised if it ends up being a new arch liner, painted, and installed. Don't be surprised if it's a grand or so, and might not perfectly match.

OP - I would DIY this! Do your research and you'll find it won't be costly nor difficult to fix. Most people shy away from this because they don't know exactly what is needed and have zero experience. I am one of those people! Youtube is a great resource where professional detailers give you step by step.

Sand paper might sound scary at first but I took the plunge and picked up what i needed. Wet sanding is simple for light scratches and buffing.
Drcolorchip is easy to use if you follow their steps.

Awesome thank you so much for the info! I think the wheel trim is plastic as it sounds different when knocking on it vs the body. I'm just glad it isn't too steep! 😁

Ok I'll see if I can convince hubby to try this! 😂 If anything we'll just be back at square one to have someone else fix it, what can go wrong? 😜 Thank you for your suggestion! ♥️

Oh no, it does look gouged to me but I think it's plastic? Hubby is deployed right now so it'll have to wait till he gets back. 🙈 Thank you for your info, I hope it's not too expensive. 😔
