I solved it by throwing on a roof rack and strapping a full size spare wheel to it. I just keep that in the tire rotation to keep the sizes the same. Added bonus: it's really easy to find in a parking lot.
I bet your MPG suffers a lot I had an empty roof rack on my X.3 and it knocked me down about four or 5 miles per gallon I carry my mini spare inside and can travel on four or five day trips with my 80 pound Doberman In the back and the mini spare in the back up against the rear seats . There is plenty of room with this set up . There will be no problem With the mini spare and AWD
