I'm running with Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi 225/50R17 tires on style 162 replica alloy wheels (17" x 8.0" 5x120 ET35 Dia72.6). I can confirm that there is less than 10mm of clearance to the strut. But so far, I've encountered no issues with this setup.
And of course, the traction is superior!
