Mine took a bit longer to install, because I had to install a backup camera and idrive controller as my X1 didn't come with those options. I definitely suggest getting the hardwired backup camera rather than the wireless if you are looking at this system.

My E84 also didn't come with idrive + controller. Im planing to install an android system. The idrive controller came with the android system looks very plastic so i decided to buy the original from bmw. However it doesn't come with wire which connects to the system.

The mechanic i showed advised me to get a wire. How did you connect the controller to the system. Does the wire already exist in your bmw or did you buy separately?
