I have the 6 cylinder e84. Handling is great for a small suv, steering is heavy and accurate, which is what I prefer. Chose the E84 X1 over a f30 3 series because of the feel of the old school hydraulic steering. Why do you think the handling is underwhelming? You might want to look at the state of your control arms if steering feel is an issue.
