Hi Mr. Woodhouse,

1st concern: Blank Car Info
If you car is the same as mine,no navigation and no lcd screen ,you will have no information but not totally blank screen.I mean when I click car info,the one that is showing up is a clock screen.Please see pictures below.
2nd concern :Fiber Optic Cable/I drive
Yes,I did followed and transfered the green fiber optic cable from Original Factory Wire Harnerss to 4x4 Harness.
Not sure what is the details of your car model,mine is 2015 x drive 28i without factory navigation/no lcd screen.
My understanding BMW Idrive,with my car without navigation and lcd screen,I dont have the I drive System,the android with the controller knob gives you the navigation system like the "BMW CIC/Idrive".
3rd concern Carplay:
Depending when was your LCD Screen Unit was Purchased to 4x4,just a copuple of months ago the LCD Screen Unit that they are selling now have a direct inerface with apple carplay meaning no dongle required,in the Apps Menu there is an application on mine named Zlink,just need to click then the screen will state "connecting-then connected" then the screen will have the Car Play.Please see picture.

I would recommend reaching to 4x4 directly,there response to me is very good,email and call.

Update on my issue: New MCU Version due to Wrong Unit of Measurement in Cardash Display
->They provided me a new MCU Version,managed to upgrade the system but the issue remain the same.Actual Temperature "Numerical Value is Centigrade" the screen is showing "Fahrenheit".
->They will provide an update mid next week.
