Service Fees

General question on dealer service fees.......

I bought my BMW X1 a little less than a year ago and I decided to stop by my local dealer service center to make an appointment for an oil change. I let them know I want to get get an oil filter change and to let me know if there is any other service the vehicle is due for.

I live in Anchorage, AK and they suggested the following:

Oil & Filter Change with multi-point inspection
Brake Flush (Suggested annually in Alaska per service rep)
Microfilter Replacement

They quoted me between $500 and $600 just for this service, which I think is ridiculously high!

I then said, well I'd just like to do the oil & filter change and I will take care of the rest. Service rep told me that they will not reset the oil change/service light in the vehicle computer if I just do this.

Is this dealer service rep just being a complete asshole to me??? I think it's ridiculous that they won't even reset the oil change light and their service fees are astronomical in my opinion. I would dread the thought if they found an actual issue during their service.

I called to cancel my appointment today and ordered all the parts/materials to do the work myself.

Anyone else have similar experience or is this dealership out of line???

Thanks!
