B5 S4 Audi's liked to combust when driven hard and turned off without enough cooling. Mostly an issue in Germany due to Autobahn speeds. The turbos were very close to the fenders and without airflow over them, things got too hot.

The last thing I'd do to a turbo charged car is start adding insulation. Early N54 335i's had the hood insulation, but later ones lost it. I doubt it was because BMW wanted their cars to be noisier.

Isn't the OP in TX? If you have an N55, watch your oil temps closely. If you have an N20, just be careful in summer temps since BMW left an oil temp gauge off.
