No. The torque range is so wide on the N55 that there's not a lot to gain on extra shifts, and because it's an automatic and not a dual clutch, a small but non-negligible amount of time lost per shift, I think the overall 0-60 wouldn't be any better. And the two top gears on the ZF8 N20 are overdrive gears, so there's not a lot of gain on the lower range, if any.
Consider this: A Formula 1 car has seven gears. If there was more gain than loss, they would have eight.
You can get slightly better than advertised times by taking off in 2nd gear from a moderate rev. Doing this on an auto is not good for the automatic clutch, though. And, of course, turn off traction control.
