I think a lot of that boredom/dissatisfaction can be satiated with modifications and improvements. The BMW platform has so much aftermarket support these days.
I'm a minimalist and intend to keep my 325i (owned 4 years now) probably forever unless I see another one with an even better spec. Its a very balanced car, perfect as a daily driver/fun street car.
