Very nice story.
My father came to this country in the 80s with a bachelor's degree in ME but that was all. He went to 3-4 universities to complete his Master's degree...wherever he'd get a scholarship for a semester or two. Flipped burgers, sold magazines, did TA work, borrowed his professor's car, etc. in order to make it in this country. Heck no firms would hire him due to his green card status, until one somehow was able to sponsor him and take a chance on the guy. Everything I am today is because both my parents struggled and paved the road for me. I love these types of stories.
