I don't see any mechanical differences in the drive line.Torque distribution between front and rear is variable and controlled by an electronic actuator in the transfer case, so technically a different default front/rear split could be programmed into M sport cars (software).

I have been able to find no BMW literature, or even reputable aftermarket tuner, that supports the claim of a different F/R torque split. The only thing I found that referenced it was a Cars.com(?) article or something.
I agree it is possible, but if it was true, I'd expect to be able to find something from BMW regarding it.
