Interior room

Fueleconomy.gov posted info on the X1. Shows it is classified as a midsize car because it has 98 cu ft of passenger volume, 2 cu ft more than the 328i. Does that sound right? Thought the X1 was tighter than the current 3 series. I had taken the X1 off of my list because i thought it would be too tight for anyone to fit behind me (I'm 6' 1"). Now I'm rethinking that. Can any current owners comment on interior room? Also, sX128i is rated 24 city, 34 hwy, one better on both than 328 despite being heavier and having a higher drag coefficient. That doesn't seem right either, although they dropped the 328i's numbers down from what BMW estimated on 328i, so maybe BMW was right.
