Yes, the sports seats are highly recommended, both because of the side bolsters and the seat extender.
As for mileage, it's hard to say for sure. I was at 22.9, but am now at 21.5 overall, mostly due to having passed the 2k break-in, I have done more aggressive driving to test it out.
If just counting the daily 14 mile, 9-lights commute, the last half tank calculated at around 23, which I don't find bad at all. Around 30% "manual", 70% D with occasional manual overrides, mainly for engine braking. 91 octane Sunoco. No ECO PRO, and DTC off unless it rains.
