Based on how you plan to ride, 4 stroke all day long. There's no two ways about it.

Folks who want to go as fast as possible, jump as far as possible, and beat the ever-loving shit out of their bike without worrying about breaking it, will want a 2 stroke.

Meanwhile, you want to put around on some trails with your kid. You want quiet, clean burning, reliable, easy starting, and lots of low end torque for low speed fun. 4 stroke is the name of the game for you, sir.
