I, and many others here, will attest to how much more pleasant the ride is on non-run flats - not just in the x1, but most BMWs
The suspension is designed to cope with all sorts - don't think the tyres really come into it.
Run flats can be harsh and expensive. Good if you need them, not if you don't but certainly not essential.
