So, I ordered a unit... should be here before my road trip. I'm basically considering this a $500 way to get bluetooth for my phone
If I get any of the other cool crap.... bonus! (and hopefully I can manage to get it installed at all - ha!)
The Tune2Air solution I was using is absolute crap - maybe I was just unlucky but it is SUPER inconsistent.
Either way, I'm looking forward to the challenge of the install. I'm handy and have installed head units before, but we'll see how I make out.
I have a 2015 e84 with no OEM screen/IDrive.
My looming questions are:
Does my car have a GPS antenna already? (Doesn't really matter, I'll use the unit's antenna).
Can I add apple car play after the fact? (It should have build in wireless, but read it can be buggy - I would hate to have another buggy system, especially after spending 500!)
Can I use wired car-play in case of buggy wireless?
Still, whatever I come up with can't be worse.
Will let you folks know how it turns out and will try to take pics.
PS. Decided not to mess with the backup cam at this point...
