The body shop I use didn't have any appreciable extended time in going through the justification process in getting OEM parts approved. Another thing going to my preferred body shop is they work with all major insurance companies and is on their list of preferred shops. What this means is typically no need for a claims adjuster to go visit the shop to visually inspect any supplements or justifications for OEM parts as the insurance company will just take their word for it. I don't know if any BMW dealership's body shop are a preferred shop for insurance companies.
