Leather Steering Wheel maintenance.

I have searched for this answer, found some things for a perforated "M" wheel but not really answered my question.

Question. How can I keep my steering wheel clean and nice without the leather deteriorating due to skin oils over time?

I know if I always wore sheepshide gloves it would be a non-issue.
But living in the real world what are some good options?

A leather cleaner/conditioner seems like a good start but I have little experience here and not liked what I've tried so far. Effectively mothers and the like. Stuff available at the local auto parts store.

Thoughts?
