Not sure what kind of material yours has but I always could tell a huge difference in vacuuming the headliner of my car. I know this because I was 15 and would have rather been thrown in jail for life or straight up killed than to get caught smoking by my dad! Haha. I would do and try anything for that not to happen and it really seemed to make a profound difference with mine. I'm sure it has lots to do with the how much and the quantity of smoke the vehicle endured. I would think that cleaning the A/C system as others have suggested would be of great help also. In the end, smoke can go where air goes which means EVERYWHERE! So eliminating it completely would be a chore if not an impossibility. Regardless, Good Luck
