Out of curiosity, have you ever tested TDS after each filter to see how much they pick up? I'm thinking since I'm on city water a carbon filter to clean out the chlorine beforehand and save the DInresin some.
I didn't think the reason aged out? It just got used up by cleaning it up.

Yes, the modification by RV Mods repalce the cartridges with a Laser Cut Tube. Basically increase the DI Resin Volume and get more contact for better filtration.

No, I haven't check the TDS after each stage but from what I learned the Carbon will remove contaminants which help pro-long DI Resin (which it is expensive)
According to most sources, DI Resin should be replaced every 12 months. Not sure what would happen after 13 months but DI water tend to grow algae if stay stagnant. We have a large DI water system at work and have an automatic purge system to prevent issues with algae.
