Great frozen paint story so happy you and your family made it out of the fires safely
Really a great story about frozen paint I find the paint very safe I plan on driving my xm label frozen black and enjoying the car that’s me . I have 4000 miles in almost 6 months it’s fun . Well said the paint makes you think maybe even stress … can not imagine driving thru fires hearing things hit your paint and you wonder if it’s ok that’s being human . I ask myself did I buy the right paint there was a gloss black and frozen black both labels when I picked my car out … novice me I loved the look of the frozen hands down for less stress the gloss would have been the easy choice no question sometimes wish I did pick the gloss BUT I do love the frozen black look along with all the lines on the car that was designed to give you a constant array of colors in changing light that only frozen paint can . I quickly had to step up my game a lot on my car care that I wasn’t ready for but I found a new love of taking care of my car in a proper way and it’s been fun .
I wash indoors it’s fun I threw away all the gimmick stuff even the bmw products funny they say only soap and water but let us sell you this and this everyone has a special black Matt product and saw me coming . I have a cabinet of special Matt products I will never put on car ever .
The only bmw product is the leather protector I like that . The rest no thank you .
Jimbo’s detailing super soaper soap yes perfect , his hard as shell ceramic spray yes … I tried inside the doors first worked my out love the product my favorite. And V and water water stains what have you wife’s idea and saw it other places it’s golden … the Jimbos is water based products I love that have a system now and can sleep easier .
As much as learning was challenge so was avoiding all the gimmicks to buy for Matt black care . Like x5 MN said in his post the frozen paint is a tough strong paint more then you think … my xm label was very dirty on one trip of 2 trips I took it on ok got a call from wife was talking to her lost my thought not paying attention and took my car in a car wash yes brushes I am in the wash on the phone and I realized what I just did and was absolutely horrified of what I was doing out of habit . I came out of the wash wanting to absolutely die and turn my car back in for just being so stupid . The dumbest BMW owner who ever lived right there ..And to my unworthy amazement not a mark not on the paint only a small swirl passenger lower piano trim that came out with a ceramic spray to never appear again . Was shockingly stupid and so lucky at the same time but learned some very tough paint . Telling the story hurts.
I am going to hold off on PPF for the rest of my car besides the front because I love the frozen look … I know there is a rock and drunk bicyclist just waiting to scratch my frozen paint as I type ok but when that happens I ll deal with it and if they get so bad then I ll repaint the frozen . But usually I don’t get Rock marks in my side panels or door dings I try all I can to avoid but life happens I get it . We will see but if it happens like in life I ll deal with it . Would rather take that PPF money and have BMW repaint it before I cover it all up .
It’s a very tough paint like X5 mn said .
