It's not all it's cracked up to be. My grandparents are in their 80s, and being heavier/unhealthy in their retirement years has made it much harder for them. It hurts them just to move and walk around, so they don't have much drive to do anything. When your body aches constantly, it's even more difficult to lose weight, so they likely never will. The ailments just associated with old age are amplified by being heavier and a lack of physical activity.
